Self-serving bias in redistribution choices: Accounting for beliefs and norms

We explore the psychological mechanisms underlying self-serving redistribution decisions in an experimental setting. This bias has been attributed not only to self-interest, but also constructs such as differing beliefs about hard work or luck inequality, fairness views, and perceptions of social norms. In this study, we directly measure each these potential compare their mediating roles relationship between status redistribution. our experiment, participants complete real-effort tasks then are randomly assigned a high low pay rate per correct answer exogenously induce (dis)advantaged status.
